Auto-Tag Regions
Auto-Tag Regions automatically assigns Protect, Focus, and Transition tags
using simple geometry heuristics.
This feature is intended for speed, especially in batch workflows.
How it works
Auto-tagging analyzes mesh geometry and assigns regions as follows:
Protect (automatic)
- Faces touching UV seams
- Faces touching sharp edges
- Faces adjacent to edges above a curvature threshold
Focus (automatic)
Planar areas with low curvature are tagged as Focus and treated as safe zones
for aggressive processing.
Transition
Any face not classified as Protect or Focus is treated as Transition.
Key settings
- Curvature Angle: lower values protect more of the mesh.
- Planar Angle: controls how strict planar detection is.
- Clear Existing: clears existing tags before auto-tagging.
When to use auto-tagging
- Large asset libraries
- World-building workflows
- Assets where manual tagging would be too slow
